Awesome article Summer. It's those details many forget to think about when thinking of getting a cute little puppy... until afterward. A little planning and some help from a professional brings more wags for everyone!

Great post Summer!! I agree with you patience, follow through and consistency are really key. And, as you mentioned, "do I have the time to invest?"

Most folks now days simply do not have the time available to try to learn a new skill (dog training) at the critical time of their dog's age for learning. This is why your board and train programs really make sense - let the professional train your dog the right way, the first time. Plus, the return on their dog's new improved behavior is so much quicker than if they tried to train their own dog.

Nice article Summer. Just the other day I had a client ask for input whether or not she should adopt a second dog. I always tell folks to wait to get the second dog until the first one is trained. Otherwise, the result will be two untrained dogs. She has done a great job training the first dog but he is still very high energy and she would have to consider whether the second dog would help to lessen that energy because he would have a playmate or would it ramp him up even more as the second dog is also high energy. It may very well be the latter. I'm going to forward your article on to her as a good reminder of the points you expressed.

Thanks so much for the mention! And, this is a fantastic idea for people that aren't able or choose not to take their pets with them on the trip. After going to camp with you, their dogs will be perfect travelers for the next vacation!!
